The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) distributed indemnity cheques totaling β±631,880 to 72 farmers today, August 15, 2024, at the Kabankalan City Hall lobby.
The PCIC’s principal mandate is to provide insurance protection to farmers against losses arising from natural calamities, plant diseases, and pest infestations affecting their palay, corn, and other crops (source: pcic.gov.ph).
Vanessa Superal, Executive Assistant to Mayor Benjie Miranda, conveyed the Mayor’s appreciation for the PCIC’s commitment to helping the agricultural sector of Kabankalan.
SP Mangao, the key figure in facilitating the program, shared his optimism about the recovery of the agricultural community. “I am pleased to see that we are gradually recovering from the effects of El NiΓ±o. I hope the financial assistance will greatly benefit our farmers,” Mangao said.
Also in attendance were Dan Adriel Baldove, PCIC Underwriter; Albert Domio, Chairman of the City Agriculture and Fisheries Council (CAFC); and Engr. Ariel L. Canonoy, representing Ricky R. Muscosa, City Agriculturist.
