The City Government of Kabankalan City, through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) NIR, successfully distributed cash relief assistance to tricycle drivers today, April 8, 2024, at Kabankalan Evacuation Center.
A total of 2,004 tricycle drivers each received โฑ5,000 under the DSWDโs Cash Relief Assistance Program, funded by the national government, which aims to provide immediate financial support to affected drivers amid the ongoing crisis.
City Mayor Benjie Miranda expressed his gratitude and reaffirmed the cityโs commitment to supporting the local transport sector.
DSWD Regional Director Arwin Razo emphasized the importance of the program in helping tricycle drivers navigate current economic challenges.
Congresswoman Mercedes Alvarez also expressed her support, assuring the drivers that they are not alone in facing the crisis.
The assistance program was implemented in line with the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian to provide immediate relief to transport groups affected by the ongoing crisis.
