Eight Barangay Information Officers (BIOs) joined over 70 communicators for the Provincial GAD Fair and Information Empowerment Program, held March 30โ€“31, 2026, at the Lโ€™Fisher Hotel Bacolod City.

Organized by the Province of Negros Occidental, the PIA, and NAGIOL, the summit focused on grassroots gender sensitivity and the enforcement of the Safe Spaces Act (Anti-Bastos Law).

The Kabankalan delegation was trained to translate complex gender laws into actionable community awareness.

According to Dr. Jake G. Tugbang, City Information Officer, those sessions sharpened the BIOs’ skills to better bridge the gap between government policy and local residents.
