Mayor Benjie Miranda officiated the mass wedding ceremony, Kasalan sa Kabankalan, uniting 140 couples in matrimony on February 14, 2025, at Zaycoland Resort and Hotel.
The City Government of Kabankalan, through the Local Civil Registrar’s Office, provided free wedding rings, lunch, a photo booth, and wedding cakes for all newlyweds.
Probinsyano Partylist donated rice cookers to each couple, while First Lady Divina Miranda gifted them with chopping boards and spatulas to help equip their new homes.
Mr. John F. Campomanes, Chief Statistical Specialist of the PSA Provincial Statistical Office – Negros Occidental, graced the occasion as a witness to the couples’ commitment.
Adding to the celebration, Mayor Miranda presented cash prizes to deserving couples in special categories, recognizing their unique stories:
- Oldest Couple/Longest Cohabitation: Nansueto Dizon (74) & Nemie Loqueso (71) – Over 50 years together
- Early Bird Award: Lino Estorco & Ledelyn Martin – Arrived at the venue at 4:30 AM
- Best in Gown: Armando Esconde & Florenda Voluntate
- Most Number of Children: A couple with five children
- Most Romantic Couple
