Twenty three members of the indigenous peoples group Badjaos were successfully sent home to Zamboanga on November 12.

The repatriation effort was facilitated by the Kabankalan City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) with the support of Mayor Benjie Miranda and PLtCol. John Joel Batusbatusan, city police chief.

The Badjaos were safely transported via Ceres bus and accompanied by personnel of CSWD to ensure that they return home to Zamboanga.

The transportation allowance and food packs were given by the DSWD regional office.

Atty. Mac Lord Zafra, city administrator, said the initiative not only demonstrates the commitment of Kabankalan City to address the needs of marginalized communities but also “highlights the dedication of its leaders in fostering inclusivity and social welfare.”
