Atty. Rolando V. Genito Jr., Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Kabankalan Chair, spearheaded the launch of “Operation Baklas” in the city yesterday, February 11, 2025, to remove illegally posted campaign materials.

The commission reminded candidates and political parties that under Republic Act No. 9006, also known as the Fair Election Act, campaign materials should only be displayed in COMELEC-approved common poster areas. Materials posted on trees, electric posts, bridges, and government buildings are considered violations and will be removed immediately.

COMELEC has also warned that violators may face fines or even disqualification from the elections. The public is encouraged to report campaign violations to help maintain clean and honest elections.
