History

The passage of Presidential Decree 86 – A Entitled Creation of
Barangay on July 5, 1976 has created Barangay Five as one of the
32 Barangay’s of the town Kabankallan now City of Kabankalan. It
was created at the time of Ferdinand E. Marcos and the country was
under the martial Law.
After the passage of the Decree, on election was conducted.
Angelina L. Cordova was elected as Barangay Captain of Barangay
Five. The elected members of the Barangay Council were
Fredisminda S. Mijares, Francisco Ramos,Dolores G. Arroz, Alfredo
Gasataya , Conception C. Villavicencio,Bernado O. Lumintac and
Adelina Alibango.They serve the barangay for ten concecutive years
until the Collegial election was conducted in 1986 with whom
Francisco Ramos was declared as the Punong barangay having the
highest vote among the candidates .
The Barangay is situated at the heart of the city and considered as
the second smallest barangay out of the 32 barangays of the city as
far as population and land area is concerned .It has a total land area
of 15,095556 hectares composed of three zones, namely,zone 1-
tubigon, zone 2-dalupang, and zone 3- kalubihan. Zone 1 is called
tubigon because the place is swampy since then; Zone 2 is called
dalupang, A gross that grew abundantly in the area and Zone 3 is
called Kalubihan because of the coconut trees growing in the area.
