History
Barangay is composed mountains, hilly and plains. The native trees found were in the virgin forest like rattan, makan, lumangog, da-o, bangkal, wild edible fruits, orchids of different varieties, various species of fishes found in the fresh water and many others. Cogon grass is abundant to the said area which is the number one source of roofing materials for housing construction of natives. Hunting or “pangayam” is the main source of meat for the natives. Trees were tall and abundant, during hunting they use “pana” and spear or native known as “bangkaw”, they are using the tree tar or “tagok” in native term, they put it in their hunting weapon to make the wild animals paralyze in a certain time to make for them easy to catch. It became known to the people living on that area the way of hunting meat in the forest. For the past number of year’s natives live life in farming, hunting and fishing. Number of family arises and education is being introduced to native tribes in different area in Kabankalan. Neighboring native tribes in the area united for peace and prosperity. Time goes, farming or “kaingin system” have caused the land cultivation into food crops were the growing of rice and corn abundantly produced even without fertilizer application.
As decade passed settlement was called Barrio and eventually Barangay. Residents living there named the Barangay “TAGOK” became “TAGOC” or BARANGAY TAGOC and being use as it became a barangay settlement up to the present generation. In 2018 Barangay Election, Rolando S. Diaz, Sr. won the position of Punong Barangay, Luzviminda I. Policarpio, Jaynelle G. Oblema, Benfie A. Tibus, Joemy T. Makiputin, Elizalde C. Agustino, Ligaya B. Miran as Barangay Kagawad and Jafet S. Alfonso as SK Chairman, at present serving the Barangay Tagoc with outmost dedication by delivering basic services.
