History

It was a legend to the new generation a tales to the new residents but a true story to old generation with in the area of this place, who is the constituents of the now called Barangay Tan-awan.  Long time ago, Papa Esyo dominated and lead the native of this place. He doesn’t want that place will be taken from them for his clan or family was the first inhabitants in this wide upland areas, to assure the security of the area, thru his leadership he find a place where in they can see all the law lands and some other uplands and the passing entry of the unknown visitors and unwelcome visitors. His home/house was situated at mount Bondok which our elders says the second Mount Kanlaon. This Mount Bondok can be seen at the eastern part of the area and he let his native warriors/soldiers post of the eastern

part, which is now called TAN-AWAN has an existing post of the Tan-awan detachment for this is the place where in you on view all inhabitants and coming visitors of the place.

 THE BARANGAY has now 43 Sitios and 6 Puroks and their way of living are planting roots crops, vegetables, rice, corn, peanut, bamboo, coconut, coffee, some fruit trees and to add this some production are Ipil-ipil trees where the owner can produce charcoal and fuel, and also different kinds of animals the kept on growing most especially carabaos, which can give big help to the farmers in clearing the fields, cow, pigs, goats, chickens and others that supplies the needs of living.

 TAN-AWAN is a valley in the Mountain areas of Kabankalan City, which is the total land areas, is 3,461.13 hectares, and from Barangay Tan-awan down to proper Kabankalan City, is almost 12 kilometers. The Barangay this moment are now on going to progress thru Agriculture Business mostly.
