The City of Kabankalan is set to inaugurate the first-ever Tourist Rest Area (TRA) in Western Visayas on August 28, 2025, marking a major milestone in the region’s tourism development. Honorable Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Cristina Garcia Frasco is expected to grace the event as the guest of honor.

A site inspection was conducted today to ensure that construction is on track and that the facility meets quality standards ahead of its inauguration. Among those who led the inspection were City Councilor Jerzy Guanzon, Chairperson of the Committee on Tourism; former Tourism Designate Engr. Randy Siason, EnP; Engr. Roland Marquez of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA); and Engr. Therese Francisco, Project Engineer of ZMA I Construction and Supply.

Strategically located at Sto. Overflow, Barangay Hilamonan, the Kabankalan TRA is designed to offer safe, clean, and comfortable amenities for both domestic and international travelers.
