Mayor Benjie Miranda is the 19th mayor of the rising city of the Southern Negros….. Kabankalan. Hailing from an indigenous background, he has a deep-rooted connection to the community he serves. Prior to his foray into politics, he dedicated his early days to serving as a CAFGU (Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit). His track record includes serving as a Kagawad and three-term Punong Barangay.

One cannot help but notice his distinctive eyeglasses, when you encounter him, which have become an integral part of his identity. Additionally, he is often seen sporting jeans, a testament to his dynamic nature and unwavering readiness to confront any challenge that may come his way.

Notably, he is member of the Fraternal Eagles of the Philippines, whom he considers as his anchor. He has earned also a recognition as the “Mayor Blogger”, a title he proudly embraces. Through his blog, he passionately showcases his work to the public, providing a transparent and accessible platform for his constituents to remain informed and engaged.

One of his endearing qualities, is the care he provides for the welfare of his constituents, particularly the senior citizens. He gives cake to senior citizens during birthdays, a small gesture that brings immense joy to their lives.

Supporting Mayor Miranda in his endeavors is his beloved wife, Divine Grace, and his son, Tisoy, who serve as his constant sources of inspiration.

This encompasses various facets of governance, ensuring that no aspect is overlooked in his relentless pursuit of progress and prosperity.

12-POINT AGENDA

  1. FOOD SECURITY – Improvement of agriculture, assistance to the industry, farm to market roads, FREE seeds, fertilizers, farm implements and financial assistance to farmers cooperatives.
  2. INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT– drainage master plan, flood control system, hiring professional consultants.
  3. HEALTHCARE PROGRAM– additional doctors, nurses, midwives and other healthcare providers for a strong and comprehensive healthcare program for all; establishment of dialysis centers.
  4. DISASTER REPONSE– additional DRRM personnel, training and capability enhancement, rescue and emergency vehicles.
  5. COOPERATIVES AND LIVELIHOOD DEVELOPMENT – The establishment of cooperatives and livelihood development office to implement livelihood and economic activities for Kabankalan City, to strengthen cooperative movement by providing financial and training assistance and facilities.
  6. PEACE AND ORDER – An improve training and capability enhancement of police personnel, to lower crime rate, acquisition of firearms, patrol vehicles and CCTV cameras for the PNP; also, additional force multipliers, beefing up of intelligence and monitoring activities, anti-crime programs/campaigns, streetlights, strong partnership with authorities in the promotion of peace in the hinterlands.
  7. SOCIAL SERVICES – increase senior citizen and PWD allowances, additional benefits and assistance for the Indigenous People, and establishment of Malasakit Centers through the national government.
  8. EDUCATION – Educational Assistance Program, financial assistance for scholars, allowances for TESDA students and strengthen Alternative Learning Systems.
  9. SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM – Establishment of comprehensive and modern sanitary landfill aligned with the provisions of RA 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act.
  10. TOURISM MASTER DEVELOPMENT PLAN – program that will focus on the city’s tourism highlights that will bring boost to the local economy.
  11. MICRO, SMALL, AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT BUSINESS COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION IN POLICY FORMULATION – Creation of programs and policies to make business accessible for MSME’s and encourage their active participation in policy formulation; strengthen programs to ease doing business by upgrading government software applications, immediate and effective single-window transaction and electronic business one-stop-shop to entice potential investors.
  12. IMPROVE SOCIALIZE HOUSING PROGRAM – Provision of a decent and affordable houses for low-income families, comprehensive housing ordinance with Sangguniang Panlungsod in coordination with National Housing Authority and Social Housing Finance Corporation.
