A “Rolex?” watch that once stirred political controversy in Kabankalan City has now found a new owner—74-year-old job order personnel Lita Estavillo—after Mayor Benjie Miranda decided to put an end to the speculation surrounding it on February 12, 2025.
During the Integration Conference of the Job Order Personnel at the K Center, Mayor Miranda publicly handed over the luxury timepiece to the city’s oldest job order worker, a gesture he said was meant to settle the issue once and for all. The “Rolex,” which had been a subject of heated debate, was reportedly pawned by the mayor at one point but was not accepted.
Addressing the audience, Mayor Miranda stated, “This watch has caused enough controversy. Instead of letting it remain a topic of speculation, I am giving it to someone who has dedicated decades of service to the city.”
For Mrs. Estavillo, the “Rolex” was more than just an expensive accessory—it was a symbol of recognition for a lifetime of hard work.
